Clarence E. Coen, Sr., 87, of Grain Valley, MO passed away November 11, 2010. A visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, November 15 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Graveside services at 11:30 AM Monday at Floral Hills East Cemetery, East US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army. Clarence was a WWII Veteran. After the war he was very successful in his printing business career. He retired at the age of 67 from GCIU Local #16 where he was the business agent for many years. After retirement he continued to enjoy raising champion German Shepherd show dogs. He also continued to run a fruit and vegetable stand at the corner of 7 Hwy and Colburn Road, Lake Lotawana, MO. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Neawanna L. (Carpenter) Coen. He is survived by three children: Clarence E. Coen, Jr. of Grain Valley, MO, Neawanna L. Sloan of Blue Springs, MO, and Sonja D. Callaway of Kingsville, MO; six grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and companion Florence Carlson. Clarence will be greatly missed by all.
