Willa Belle Coffman, 91, of Independence, MO passed away January 29, 2011 at Wilshire at Lakewood. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. service to follow on Friday, February 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Willa Belle was born February 19, 1919, the eighth of eleventh children, in Richmond, MO to Joseph H. and Volina B. (Rippy) Carter. She worked for many years as a substitute school teacher for the Independence School District. She and her husband Gene were also members of Beacon Heights RLDS congregation. Willa Belle is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, R.E. “Gene” Coffman; three sons, Steve and wife Trudy, Darwin and wife Jeannette, Galyn and wife Denise; six grandchildren, Amber and husband Chad Myers of Hopedale, IL, Joe and wife Angie Coffman of Odessa, MO, Jason and wife Amber Coffman of Independence, MO, Hilary and husband Zack McNeil of Olathe, KS, Jennifer and husband Joshua Jung of Independence, MO and Keri Coffman of Independence, MO; five great grandchildren, Brandon Myers, Rylee Coffman, Landon Jung, Reese McNeil and Ava McNeil; three sisters, Virginia Schmidt of Gordon, NE, Fern and husband J Charlesworth of Raymore, MO, Erma Bates of Raymore, MO; one brother, Doris and wife Imogene Carter; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
