Linda May Cole, 67 of Kansas City, MO passed away, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Brooking Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Linda was born July 11, 1945 in Excelsior Springs, MO to Norman E. and Lilly Jane (Woods) Gaines, Sr. and has been a life long area resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed embroidering and gardening both flowers and vegetables. She had also worked as manager for the Dairy Queen on 24 highway and Brookside in the mid 1970’s. She was a member of the Evangelistic Center in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by; her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas Cole of the home; 2 daughters, Kimberly Hendricks and husband Robert of Independence, MO and Stephanie Smith and Roger of Kingsville, MO; a sister, Nelda Cort and husband Bob of Independence, MO; a half sister, Paula Baker and husband John of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Hannah Hendricks of Independence, MO, Jacqulynn Colwell and husband Catlin of Kansas City, MO, NiCole Hobbs of Independence, MO and Katilynn Mann of Kingsville, MO and a great grandson, Kobi Ray Hobbs. She was preceded in death by a half brother, Norman E. Gaines, Jr. in 1984.
