Leland L. "Lee" Coleman, II, was born 1/23/1954 and passed away at NorthCare Hospice House on 2/21/2011. Lee was born to Leland L. Coleman and Bernetta "Pat" (Armstrong) Coleman.
Lee attended St. Charles elementary school and graduated from Oak Park High School. He began his working career at Tnemec Co., Inc. in North Kansas City in 1971 as a third generation employee. He left Tnemec in 1999 as a Traffic Manager. He had his own consulting business for a couple of years until health issues caused him to retire.
Lee was an avid fisherman and owned a house at Lake of the Ozarks where he spent much of his time fishing and boating. He was also an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. He married Glenna Jo (Holdeman) Winningham on July 31, 1993. They spent many years travelling back and forth to the Lake enjoying fishing and boating. Lee was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Independence, MO and had a special interest in the Outreach Center services of the church. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Leland L. Coleman and Pat Coleman; sister Anne Frances Coleman, grandparents Lester and Estelle Coleman, Misty the faithful shetland sheepdog, Aunt Blanche Armstrong, and brother-in-law Robert Pusateri. He is survived by his wife, Glenna and Rex, the shetland sheepdog of the home.
He is also survived by his sister Anne Coleman Pusateri of St. Louis, MO; mother-in-law, Josie (Everett) Eslinger of Canton, KS; sister-in-law Susan (John) Gordon of Nebraska City, NE; nephew Nick Gordon of Omaha, NE and niece Kara Gordon of Iowa City, IA; friend Phyllis Strickland, St. Louis, MO; Sr. Bernetta Mary Armstrong, St. Louis, MO and Loraine (Armstrong} and Ralph McWilliams, Montrose, MO.
Donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church Outreach Center, Independence or NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2011, at Carson Speaks Funeral Home; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO, with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Funeral mass will be at St. Mary Catholic Church; 600 N. Liberty St. Independence, MO at 11:00am February 26, 2011. Private Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
