Connie Lynne Highfill, 64, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052, with inurnment to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.

Connie was born February 10, 1962, in Independence, MO, to J. Wayne and Mary Jo (Inbody) Smith and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Truman High School in 1980 and from Culver-Stockton College with a degree in Business Administration. She worked as an accountant for a number of local companies, including Cavern Technologies.

Connie loved deeply and brought warmth and laughter to those around her. She had a big laugh that could fill a room. She found great pleasure in sewing and quilting and took pride in the things she created. She was also a devoted dog lover, especially fond of her beloved puppy, Mazy. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, where she held a national office, as well as the Beta Sigma Phi women’s sorority. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO. Above all, Connie was known for her loyalty to the people she loved.

Connie will be deeply missed by her husband, Tony Highfill of the home; her father, Wayne Smith of Blue Springs, MO; her sister, Beth Roberts and husband Brent of Lee’s Summit, MO, and nieces Rachel, Lauren and Reagen; stepson, Kyle Highfill and wife Crystal of Lee’s Summit, MO, and grandchildren Juliana and Dominic.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jo Smith, in 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance.
