Linus E. Cook, Jr., 86, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Friday, July 08, 2011 at his home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornal Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145. Linus was born December 11, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Linus and Alta (Leggit) Cook, Sr. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Cook retired from Armco Steel after 33 years of dedicated service in 1985. Linus was a gifted woodworker! He is survived by his children Linda Knight and husband Arnold, Laurence Cook and wife Margie, Barbara Lewis; grandchildren Robert, Trisha, Angie, Jennifer, Rob, Ronnie, Brandon and Chris; 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in ’96; and his brother.
