Shirley Cooper, 62, of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, June 22 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday at the Chapel, with burial at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Shirley was born in Pine Bluff, AR to Lonnie Stewart and Dorothy Painter. She was proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. Shirley worked in the craft department of Ben Franklin before her retirement and enjoyed sewing of all sorts, including doll making, crocheting, cross-stitching, and lace making.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Stewart and is survived by her husband, Gary Cooper; mother, Dorothy Thurston; daughter, Kim Roesch; two sons, Charles Odle and Marvin Odle; step-daughter, Wendy Pastor; grandson, Joseph Roesch; sister-in-law, Joyce Porter; brother-in-law, Roger Cooper; cousin, Ron Gurley; and a host of extended family and friends. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved her, including her three dogs, Gidget, Sheena, and Susie.
