Virginia Eileen Cordes, 91, of Independence, Mo passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm Monday, October 26th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Eileen was born October 23, 1923 in Independence, MO as one of two children to Rex Asa and Lydia (Pearl) Bellew. She graduated from Blue Springs High School. Eileen married her beloved Joseph Johnson Cordes, Jr. on June 6th, 1941 before he deployed to serve in the military. Together they raised two children. Eileen worked in real estate as an agent for over 30 years before leaving to care for her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family, gardening her flowers, and cooking. Eileen was a member of Independence Trinity Church of the Nazarene for over 35 years and served on the church board. Her family remembers her as a social butterfly, who may be ornery at times, but was most loving and hospitable. Eileen is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include daughter, Shelli Boniedot and husband Roy of Independence, MO; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Rex Bellew; her husband; and her beloved son, Daniel Joseph Cordes.
