Ralph Wesley Corlett, Jr. 89, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, March 27th 2015. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31st at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Wes was born June 27, 1925 in Butler, MO as one of five children to Irene (Eubank) and Ralph Wesley Corlett, Sr. He graduated from Butler High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. Wes married his beloved Marilyn “Sue” (Zody) on October 14, 1950 and together they raised three children. He worked in engineering for Horton and Finley in Lamar, MO before working as a Line Supervisor at Independence Power & Light until his retirement in 1989. His passions in life included fishing and above all, his family. They remember him as a reserved and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Wes is survived by wife of 64 years, Sue; daughter, Marilyn Otte (Jeff) of Maryville, MO; son, Max Corlett (Vicky) of Pryor, OK; son, Mark Corlett of Independence, MO; brothers, Darrel Corlett of Springfield, MO; and Edward Corlett (Rose) of Nixa, MO; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Corlett; and sister, Christine Baker. The family encourages contributions to Kansas City Hospice House in his memory.
