Maxine Corliss, 80, Independence, MO passed away May 11, 2010. Services will be 10 am, Monday, May 17, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, followed by a committal service and interment at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be 2 – 4 pm, Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Animals Best Friends, P.O. Box 493, Independence, MO 64051.
Maxine was born Feb. 25, 1930 in Liberal, MO and graduated from Liberal High School. She worked in the school cafeterias at William Chrisman and Truman High Schools for fifteen years before training to be a certified nurses aide. She worked for the next twenty years at Independence Regional Hospital before retiring in 1997. She was a member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church for over twenty-five years. She loved reading, animals, her four cats and enjoyed watching the birds in her backyard.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Corliss and son Michael Corliss. She is survived by daughters Jeanette Muncrief and husband Lon, Blue Springs, MO; Leslie Corliss, Independence, MO; brother Marshall Blincoe and wife Mary, North Kansas City, MO; sisters Margaret Eskridge and husband Kenneth, Houston, TX; Rosalee Carpenter and husband Elmer, Salem, OR; Earlene Claunch, Ukiah, CA; Darlene Nance, Jeffersonville, IN; brother Dennis Blincoe, Liberal, MO; granddaughters Heather Morris and husband Bryan, North Kansas City, MO; Ashley Muncrief, Kansas City, MO; and great-granddaughter Riley Morris.
