Michael Eugene Corliss, 56, of Blue Springs, MO passed away, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to Wayside Waifs.
Michael was born November 8, 1952 in Pittsburg, KS to Vernon and Maxine (Blincoe) Corliss. He spent his early life in Pittsburg before moving to Independence where he graduated from Truman High School in 1971. He resided in St. Cloud MN for several years and attended college in St. Cloud, MN. He worked at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant as a gunner for the past 5 years. Prior to that he worked for GST Steel. He enjoyed sports and cooking and had a love for animals. He attended New Community Free Methodist Church where he was active in Bible study groups. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and the Promise Keepers.
Survivors include; his mother Maxine Corliss of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Jeanette Muncrief and her husband Lon of Blue Springs, MO and Leslie Corliss of Independence, MO; his companion Phyllis Locke of Blue Springs, MO; 2 nieces Heather Morris and her husband Bryan and Ashley Muncrief; a great niece, Riley Morris, aunts uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Corliss in 1995 and his maternal and paternal grandmothers.
