Marian Costigan

Marian S. Costigan, 93, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away Friday, April 8, 2011. She was born November 19, 1917 in Lexington, MO to Ernest Lee and Gertrude (Fanolio) Shull. She was a lifelong area resident and was retired from the Independence Regional Hospital. She was a member of Maywood Baptist Church. Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael Edward Costigan; and two sons, Gary Eugene Costigan and Michael Edward Costigan Jr.; five brothers; and three sisters. Her survivors include three children, Marjorie Varney (Bob), Patrick Costigan (Anita), and Denise Cooksey (Dwayne); six grandchildren, Kristina Barker (Mike), Andrew Costigan, Elizabeth Elliott (Ryan), Michael Varney, Shawn Cooksey (Julie), and Brianne Overfelt (Travis); eleven great grandchildren, Hillary, Henry, Thomas, Reagan, Jack, Ashton, Colin, Madeline, Gracyn, Connor and Lily; two sisters, Mildred Draskovich and Virginia Kruse; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Tuesday, April 12, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
