Charles Countryman

Charles Henry Countryman, 93, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Groves Community Hospice, 1515 W. White Oak, Independence, MO 64050. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Henry was born November 26, 1917 in Independence, MO to Thomas E. and Effie Pearl (Miller) Countryman. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. On February 14, 1941 he was united in marriage to Opal Horn. Mr. Countryman was an active and faithful Elder in the Restoration Church. He retired from the GM Fairfax plant in 1973 after 33 years of service. Henry is survived by his children David Countryman and wife Shirley, Charlette Kelton and husband Stephen, Thomas Countryman and wife Brenda; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal, great-grandson Mason Thomas Knox.
