Mary Jean Dow Covell, 61, Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 3, 2011.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be at 10:00 AM Monday, March 7, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mary was born October 1, 1949 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Allan and Edna “Tootie” (Dye) Dow. She was a 1967 graduate of Wm Chrisman High School. Mary retired in 2006 from General Motors and was a proud member of the UAW Local #31. She attended Eastside Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed dancing, going to the casino and spending her winnings on her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her sons; Phillip A. Dow and Todd Dow; grandsons, Dillian and Derrick Dow; sisters, Cindy Nield and her husband Mark, and JoAnn Mayes; brother, Clifford Dow and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
