Bonnie Sue “Dee Dee” Cravens, 73, Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly March 14, 2011 at Research Medical Center. Graveside services will begin at 2 pm, Friday, March 18 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Thursday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052.
Dee Dee was born Nov. 20, 1937 in Jefferson City, MO but grew up in the Fairmont area of Independence. She graduated from Northeast High School. She began working at the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Kansas City while still in high school and it turned out to be the only job she ever had. After forty years at the Federal Reserve she retired on Sept. 30, 2004. Dee Dee enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, yard work, shopping, and dining out but she especially loved her grandchildren.
Dee Dee was preceded in death by her husband Larry A. Cravens and son Courtney D. Cravens. She is survived by daughter Connie Cravens and husband Rick Meyers, Independence, MO; brother Harvey Townley and wife Kathi, Buena Vista, AR; grandchildren Bree Meyers and Chase Meyers; great-grandchildren Colbie & Bailey Bellos.
