Charles “Ed” Cross, 64, of Independence, MO, passed away March 28, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center of Independence. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Ed was born January 16, 1944, in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Nellie (Calvert) Cross. He was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO. He owned and operated Ed Cross Plumbing for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Ed was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #385, #3717 and Moose Lodge #2414. He was a musician and played in many bands in the Kansas City area; and he loved children, and wanted to give a better life to all those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Darolyn Cross; two daughters, Angela Clarke and Dawn Owens; four sons, Charles E. Cross Jr., Darren Frank, Eddie Cross and Tony Cross; and eleven grandchildren.
