George R. Croucher, 88, Independence, MO passed away Friday, June 24, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the chapel. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Summit Grove Congregation of the Community of Christ, 411 E. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64050. George was born May 19, 1923 in Burlingame, KS to Henry and Georgia (Carter) Croucher. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Croucher was an active member of the Community of Christ. George retired from the Teamsters in 1982 as a road and building construction driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and small engine repair in his spare time. George is survived by his children Michael Croucher, Sr., Brian Croucher and wife Shawna, a foster daughter Daisy Davis and husband Darrell; son-in-law Alan Austin; grandchildren Amanda, Whitney, Sydney, Michael, Jr. and John Croucher, Trisha Dean; step-grandchildren Laurie Kroenke, Brent and Brad Austin; multiple great-grandchildren; brothers Harold “Red” Croucher, Max Croucher and wife Jean, Virgil Croucher and wife Jeanette; sister Juanita Michael; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in ’06, daughter Vicki in ’89; one sister and one brother.
