Rossie Crute

Rossie Nell (Locke) Crute, 98 of Willmar, MN passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Wilmar, MN. A visitation will take place from 10-11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence, MO 64050. Burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Rossie was born June 11, 1912 in Deepwater, MO the daughter of Robert Dana Locke and Norma Leah McDonald. She grew up in Carthage and Clinton, MO and obtained her education in Clinton and Eureka, KS. On June 15, 1938 she married Robert Scott Crute, and they were blessed with three children: Beverly, Alan and Virginia. Rossie worked at Continental Oil, American Can Company, Journal Post Newspaper, Montgomery Ward and the Federal Government in Kansas City in the offices of the Corps of Engineers and Social Security before she retired in 1978. Rossie enjoyed dancing, playing piano, collecting dolls, traveling, going to Sunday School at the “Kum Join Us” class at the First Presbyterian Church, Independence, MO participating in the Menninger Bible study classes, reading her NARFE magazines, and enjoying her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Rev. Beverly Crute, PhD, Alan and Rhonda Crute, and Dr. Virginia and Neil Magnus; grandchildren: Kristin Angele (Crute) Berg, Scott Crute, Laurisa (Phil) Duba, Christina Magnus, and Analisa Magnus; great grandchildren: Joey Franke, Kristopher, Matthew, and Daniel Berg and Leah Mae Duba; a sister, Rosemary Clements of Buena Park, CA and nephew Rick (Phyllis) Clements of Suisun City, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Crute; her sister, Elsie Mae Alverson; and a brother, Robert Donald Locke. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence, MO 64050.
