TYRA MAE (HALFHILL) CUNDIFF
Tyra Cundiff, 61, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 25th 2013. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, April 29th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel.
Tyra was born June 22nd 1951 in Independence to Tranville “Happy” and Clara (Yahnig) Halfhill. As the middle of three children they enjoyed the numerous family camping trips. She graduated from Van Horn High School and attended college near Springfield, MO. “T” later married and had her beautiful son, T.J. whom she adored. She held many work positions including, telephone installer in Oregon, for the Leeds Assembly Plant, Phillips Tool and Die Co, and finally for the IRS as a Tax Inspector for the last 18 years. “T” was a talented artist using all types of mediums, and an accomplished writer. She will be especially remembered by her two best friends, Robin Ker and Terry Marchetti and their adventures at Tan Tyra’s Swimming Pool. Tyra is loved and will be missed.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Jefferson Cundiff; mother, Clara Halfhill; sister, Pam Dull and husband William, all of Independence; brother, Dennis Halfhill and wife Karen of Tallahassee, FL; niece, Jaime Martin and husband Jeremy of Oak Grove, MO; nephews, Patrick Halfhill and wife Kim of Madison, FL; and Jacob Halfhill and wife Christina of San Antonio, TX; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins and dear friends. Tyra was preceded in death by her dad, “Happy”.
