Vance A. Cunningham, 72 of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Independence passed away Sun. Feb. 3, 2008 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 am. Sat. Feb. 9, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO. Burial in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 �" 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Cunningham was born on Nov. 16, 1935 to Lloyd and Vida (Bailey) Cunningham in Kewanee, IL. He had been a businessman in Independence for over 30 years and had owned and operated McDonald Auto Body Shop, retiring in 1993. Vance was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He was an avid Racing fan and had raced his midget race car all over the country. He cherished the times he could spend with his family and friends. Vance was a member of the Masons, the Huntington Hills Country Club, the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association and the Community of Christ Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Cunningham in 1978 and by two siblings, Jack Cunningham and Beverly Serratt. His survivors include his wife, Trudie Cunningham of Lakeland, FL; three sons, Dan Cunningham and wife Barbara of Grain Valley, MO, Garry Cunningham and wife Luann of Oak Grove, MO and Scott Cunningham and wife Denise of Blue Springs, MO; five Grandchildren, two brothers, Lloyd Cunningham of Independence, MO and Gerald Cunningham and wife Mac of Peoria, IL. Two sisters, Barbara Canaday and Marilyn Welsh of Independence, MO and two step-sons, Richard Mentel, Jr. of Overland Park, KS and Jeffrey Mentel of Stanwood, WA
