Shirley O’Neil Curtis, 89, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Aug. 16, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Timothy Peter O’Neil; her husband of fourteen years, George Curtis and her son Timothy Brian O’Neil. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was on the Board of Directors of her apartment complex for a number of years. Shirley took strength in her Catholic faith. She enjoyed playing golf, watching the Royals games and working crossword puzzles. She was a family-oriented wife and mother. Her life and death were characterized by independence, strength, grace and courage.
Shirley is survived by her children Marcia Cinq-Mars, Houston TX; Cheryl O’Neil, Holden, MO; Terry O’Neil, Seattle, WA; Joan Knotts and husband Donald, Leawood, KS; Mary Gosling and husband Ed, Lenexa, KS; Michael O’Neil, Blue Springs, MO; Sharon Ann Chumchall and husband Michael, Houston, TX; Sean O’Neil, Kansas City, MO; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. The family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army.
