Albert “Jack” Dalton ,96, Independence, Mo. Passed away March 25, 2010 at St, Luke’s Plaza Hospital, Celebration of life memorial service will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Independence, Mo. Visitation from 2-3:00 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the building fund of First Presbyterian Church, 100 N., Pleasant, Independence, Mo. 64050. Cremation. Albert “Jack” Dalton was born November 13, 1913 in Mansfield, Arkansas., His given name was Albert, however the name “Jack” kept showing up-most of his associates and friends knew him as Jack. Jack met his future wife, Lola, at Chillicothe Business College. They were married in 1941, and lived most of their 57 years of marriage in Independence. Mr. Dalton served his church and community in many areas. He was President of the Boys Club Board of Directors, President of Independence Kiwanis Club, Truman Fellow, Member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and Member of the Charter Revision Committee for Independence. An active member of the Presbyterian Church, Albert was an elder for 51 years. He and Lola served as financial secretary/treasurer for 37 years. He served as moderator of the Northwest Missouri Presbytery in 1972, Moderator of Synods of Mid-America in 1983, Treasurer of Synods of Mid-America in 1979, and General Assembly Elder Commissioners in 1968 and 1983. Albert “Jack” Dalton lived his 96 years well. He was a devoted Christian, a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife Lola Dalton. He is survived by a son Rev. Norman Dalton of Fernandina Beach, Florida, a daughter, Carolyn Cargyle of Independence, Missouri, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
