Obituary

Darcy Lorraine French was born May 28, 1999, to Robert Lowell French, Jr., age 64, and Julie Jo Nelson, age 65, of Independence, Missouri, and passed away recently after a decade long struggle with addiction.

Darcy attended First Baptist Church of Independence daycare and preschool. She was a Blackburn Bobcat and later went to Pioneer Ridge Middle School, Truman High School and also attended Chrisman High School.

Darcy was a Melroe’s School of Dance student and performer and then fell in love with competitive ice skating at age 10. She joined Heartland Figure Skating Club in 2010 and competed through 2013 at local competitions. She was awarded many blue ribbons through the years and was a graceful presence on the ice.

Darcy joined the JV Cheer Squad at Truman High School in 9th grade. Her dance, acrobat and skating skills allowed her to shine in the spotlight.

Darcy and her brother, Chad Anthony French, traveled to fun destinations in America on family road trips to New York, California and Florida. They sat on the edge of the Grand Canyon and stood on the top of the Empire State Building together. Found seashells on the beaches of Florida and surfed the Rincon in Santa Barbara, California.

They participated in filming a family friend’s music video in 2012 at the Savoy Hotel in Kansas City and they hosted birthday parties at their family’s swimming pool growing up.

Darcy loved her pets, loved her friends and loved her family. She leaves behind her Mom and Dad along with her brother, Chad, age 29, his 4 year old daughter Monroe Caterina French, and brother Robert Lowell “Bobby” French III, age 38. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Deanna Lorraine Nelson, her grandmother Mary Lou French, and both grandfathers.

There are many angels on earth who watched over Darcy during her earthly journey, that we want to thank for their love, compassion and support.

Darcy may have passed into eternal heaven, but she will always remain our bright eyed, shining light we will miss and cherish until we meet again.
