LILA MAE DAVENPORT
Lila Mae Davenport, 77, Buckner, MO passed away Feb. 13, 2011 at home. CW02 James E. Davenport, Sr. in his dress blues, awaited the arrival of his Valentine. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at the Church of the Santa Fe in Buckner, MO; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 6 pm, Wed. at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams Street, Buckner, MO 64016 followed by visitation until 8:30 pm.
Lila was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Downey, CA. She graduated from Covina Union High School in California. She and her husband, James, moved to Buckner, MO in 1994. She was a Past President of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post #8101 in Buckner and a member of the church. She had worked at Independence Regional Hospital. In the past, she was active in volunteer work at St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Red Cross.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Davenport, Sr. and grandson Woodrow Lingard. She is survived by son Rick Davenport and wife Irene; daughter Denise Lingard, all of Buckner, MO; daughter Patti Dunn and Bob Klann, Mechanicsville, MD; son James Davenport, Jr. and wife Sheridan, Buckner, MO; son Troy Davenport and wife Sue Hays, Grain Valley, MO; brother Alton Richard Tims, Houston, TX; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
