David Wesley Bailey

David Wesley Bailey, 78 of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held starting with visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 39th St., Independence, Mo). Art Endsley, Pastor will begin the memorial service at 11:30. The family requests no flowers or monetary condolences. In lieu of, the family requests donations to the organization of the donor’s choice. David was born February 2, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to David Astor and Mary Jane (Dunivan) Bailey and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked as an engineer for several hospitals and retired as the operating engineer for Centerpoint Medical Center. He enjoyed traveling and was known as the “Trip Director” as he was always planning the next trip for family and friends. David was a vintage car enthusiast and enjoyed meeting up with his car friends at their local car shows. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Fran; 3 daughters, Julie Dohring and husband Thomas of Canton, MI, Christina Ballinger and husband Ken and Jennifer Helmich and husband Brandon all of Grain Valley, MO; a sister, Marilyn Bailey-Menichetti of Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by, his parents and 2 sisters, Judith Kowalski and Linda Bailey.
