Walter W. “Willie” Davis, 89 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, September 14, 2011 at Rosewood Health Center.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055.
Willie was born January 19, 1922 in Hemple, MO to J.C. and Mary Elizabeth (VanArsdal) Davis. He graduated from high school in Brookfield, MO. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. His distinguished career at TWA included being honored as a flight engineer of the year in 1976. After his retirement in 1983 he voluntered 16 years in the restoration of the Constellation Aircraft and was a member of Save-a-Connie. He was also a FAA designated flight engineer examiner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Frances H. Houser; a son, Bruce Davis of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Virginia Bumgarner of St. Louis, MO; 2 grandchildren, Drew Davis and Neil Davis and 3 great grandchildren, Lynnlee Davis, Jillian Davis and Mason Davis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Community Services League 404 North Noland Road
