Jeannette Merle (Davis) Day of Independence, Mo. Passed away October 8, 2022 at CenterPoint Medical Center. She was 81 years old. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. The family asks for donation to your Church’s Operating Fund or a donation to a Charity, such as the Alzheimer’s Association.

Jeannette was born on January 29, 1941 in La Grande, Oregon as the second daughter to Dwight DW Davis and Mary (Beebe) Davis. The family moved around the country for her father’s job before settling in Independence, Mo.

Jeannette graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1959 before attending Graceland College where she received her two-year diploma in nursing. While at Graceland she met her future husband, Richard W. Day. After finishing her nursing certification, she went on to receive her nursing degree at the University of Kansas. Jeannette and Richard wed in Independence, Mo. on May 16, 1964.

The two purchased their life-long home in Independence, Mo. in the Fall of 1964, before welcoming their son, Douglas, in 1968. The two enjoyed traveling with their family across the United States.

She worked at Clark Manufacturing with her mother and uncle before working at Independence Regional Health Center. She retired in 2003 to spend time with her husband and family.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight DW Davis and Mary (Beebe) Davis. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard W. Day; son Douglas and daughter-in-law Karyn; grandchildren Christopher and Courtney; and her older sister Cheryl (Davis) Zabel of Lawrence, Kan.
