Roy Day

December 7, 1926 — June 20, 2013

Roy W. Day, 86, of Lincoln, MO passed away Thursday, June 20th 2013. Visitation will be 9:00- 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24th 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street Independence. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. the same day at Saltfork Cemetery near Blackwater, MO.
Roy was born December 7th 1926 in Pilot Grove, MO to George W. and Teresa (Kempf) Day. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the Philippines. He married Barbara (French) in 1967. He worked as an insurance salesman for National Life Ins. Co. for many years before becoming a Manager for A & Z Manufacturing in Independence, and eventually co-owning Dayco Uniforms with his wife. Roy loved square dancing, fishing, sports, boating, and especially his children and grandchildren.
Roy is survived by daughters, Valeria Hunt, of Lincoln, MO; Rhonda Wilcox of Oak Grove, MO; Neysa Day (Bob Feild) of Kansas City, MO; stepdaughter, Tonna Harold of Sparta, MO; stepsons, Lynn and Lyle Brown, both of Oak Grove, MO; sister, Marceline Franey, of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty three years, Barbara; great granddaughter Desean; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Kateman, Francis, Charles, Gerald and Leo Day, and Katherine “Dolly” Peeples.
