December 11, 1950 — August 10, 2025

The family of Deacon James H Reynolds III (Jim) is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday August 10, 2025 at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, MO. Jim was born to James and Margaret Reynolds on December 11, 1950 in Atlantic City, NJ. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served his country for four years. Jim worked for the Veterans Administration in Bronx, NY while attending classes and earning his first college degree. His job with the VA took him to Louisiana and eventually Missouri where he met and married his wife, Lena, in 1986. After an early retirement from the Veterans Administration, Jim dedicated his life in service to others working with various organizations. In 2000, he became the Pastoral Associate for St. Ann’s church in Independence, MO and completed the Deaconate program in 2002. He faithfully served as a Deacon for the Diocese of Kansas City/ST Joseph until his retirement in 2016. During his time as a Deacon, James was involved in many ministries. He provided Catholic services to inmates, worked with the homeless and was an avid defender for Right to Life. He strongly believed in Interfaith Ministry and supported the works of the Ministerial Alliance. Jim was on the board of Directors for the Northwest Community Development Corporation that housed the Fairmount Community Center, was an active member of the Legion of Mary and was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, as a Fourth Degree Knight.

James is survived by his wife, Lena of the home. Jim had a wonderful personality; he had a kind word for everyone he met and a sense of humor that was unmatched. Jim had a deep passion for music that he proudly shared with his children and grandchildren, his grandchildren have been left a legacy of one of a kind, silly songs, written by him. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
