Deanna Raye Wishon

August 16, 1944 — November 2, 2024

Independence

Deanna Raye (Valentine) Wishon, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by her daughters. Born on August 16, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Deanna was a vibrant spirit whose social and loving nature impacted all who came to know her.

A proud graduate of Northeast High School, Deanna was known for her passion for history and genealogy research. Her love for discovering her roots provided joy not only to her, but also to her family and friends who often found themselves enriched by her discoveries. Music was another source of delight for Deanna. Her home often echoed with melodies that brought comfort and happiness to those around her. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and the Northeast Alumnae Association.

Deanna’s love of travel included several European countries, islands in the Caribbean, China, Mexico, Canada, and many states.

As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Deanna poured her heart into her most significant accomplishment—her family. Preceding her in death is her husband, Bob E. Wishon, and her parents, Ray and Etta (DeFoor) Valentine. Her loss is felt deeply by those who were blessed to know her warmth and kindness.

Deanna is survived by her children: Darlene (Eric) Pickett, Jennifer (Brian) Dunnaway; grandchildren: Paige Pickett and Chase Dunnaway; beloved companion, Ron Fornelli; extended family, and dear friends who will remember her for her quick-witted spirit and loving heart. The legacy she leaves behind is one of deep familial bonds, limitless wanderlust, and an appreciation of all things angels and hearts.

A Visitation in honor of Deanna will be held on November 11, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will commence at 10:00 AM. Deanna will be laid to rest at Mount Washington Cemetery, 614 S Brookside Ave, Independence, MO., following the Funeral Service.

In these moments of remembrance, let us celebrate Deanna’s life, cherishing the laughter, love, and wisdom she shared. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
