Nancy Deckert

Nancy A. Deckert, 66, died peacefully at home on February 13, 2009, surrounded by family and friends. She was born June 12, 1942, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of William P. Atkinson and Dorothy E. Babbitt. She was a graduate of Wichita Southeast High School.
She was a homemaker and a resident of Blue Springs, MO since 1965. Nancy was past President of the Blue Springs Country Club and a member since 1968. She was also a past President of the Missouri Women’s State Golf Board.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Marvin A. Deckert, whom she married July 26, 1963 in Miami, OK. Other survivors include brothers, Tom J. Atkinson and his wife Maryann, of Wichita, KS, and Gary D. Atkinson and his wife Lynda, of Goodyear, AZ; sister-in-law, Pat Atkinson; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog Sadie. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William J. Atkinson. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., followed by a 7:00 p.m. rosary, on Tuesday, February 17, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will take place in Larned, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Women’s Golf Association of the Country Club of Blue Springs, c/o Suzi Comstock, 1707 NW Walnut Circle, Blue Springs, MO 64014, in honor of the game she loved so much.
