John Warren Dedrick, 64, of Independence, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the North Care Hospice House, Kansas City.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM., on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Memorial are suggested to NKC Schools Education Fund, In Memory of John Dedrick, 2000 NE 46th Street, Kansas City, MO 64116.
John was born on January 17, 1949, in Sedalia, the son of John “Jack” Elliott and Emma Lee (Sturtevant) Dedrick. John was currently employed by the North Kansas City School District as a physics teacher and was very passionate about teaching children. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Moila Shrine Club, Chillicothe Masonic Lodge and the Physics First Program helping at Missouri State University and University of Missouri Kansas City.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the lake, fishing, having barbeques and especially feeding the birds. John is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Marsha (Sitton) Dedrick, Independence; four daughters, Elizabeth Dedrick, West New York, NJ; Sharon Drennan, Marshall; Melissa Knowles and her husband Dameon, Kansas City; and Crystal Rader, Sweet Springs; one son, William Dedrick, Independence; his mother, Emma Dedrick, Chillicothe; five grandchildren, Starr and Skylar Drennan, Nakyla Dedrick, Athena Nolan and Faith Rader. two brothers, Dan Dedrick, Chillicothe; and Tom Dedrick, Fort Wayne, IN; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Elliott Dedrick and one grandson, Caleb Rader.
