R. Charles Degenfelder

April 7, 1945 — February 24, 2009

R. Charles Degenfelder, 63 of Lone Jack, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at his residence. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to the American Heart Association. Charles was born April 7, 1945 in Kansas City, MO to Roy and Louise (Porter) Degenfelder. He graduated from East High School in 1963 and had attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. He proudly served in the US Air Force reserves from 1967-71. He was an Eagle Scout and Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Charles has been the General Manager for Garden City Plastics for the past 5 years. He enjoyed model trains, yard work and woodworking. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Patty (Waterman) Degenfelder. Other survivors include: a daughter, Amy Degenfelder of San Diego, CA; a step daughter, Shannon Nelson and her husband Jeff of Liberty, MO; 2 sisters, Linda Williams and her husband Jim of Independence, MO and Deanna Schwope and her husband Roger of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, David Degenfelder and his wife Melissa of Osceola, MO; 2 grandchildren, Sabrina and Lauren Nelson; his former wife, Julia Ann Reid of Independence, MO and several nieces and nephews.
