Obituary

Delmer “Del” Jay Campbell, 88, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2026 after being recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Del was born September 20, 1937, in Butler, MO to Erland and Betty Campbell.

He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1955. Hs wife was also in that graduating class. He went on to Kansas University, graduating with a BS in Chemical Engineering. In1969, he earned his Professional Engineer Certification. He enjoyed a 31-year career with Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line.

In 2000, Del married his classmate, Jane Gregory. They had met in 5th grade. He and Jane traveled the world, having gone to all seven continents and over 70 countries, as well as all 50 states. Their lives together were a great and loving adventure, filled with much laughter.

Del was a volunteer for AARP taxes for many years, as well as for Meals on Wheels. He was also active in Independence School District’s Youth Friend Program. He attended Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of the Journeymen Sunday School Class. His hobbies were gardening and woodworking.

Del is survived by his wife, Jane, daughter, Kyle Campbell of Houston TX, son, Michael Flanagan and wife Heather of Columbia MO, daughter Shawna Lubarsky and husband Amir of Tequesta FL, seven grandchildren and sister, Patty Resco and husband Ken of Harrisonville MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Kirk Campbell.

The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospital, Premier Custom Care 24-hour home health care and St. Croix Hospice.
