Bert Alexander Delong Jr.

Bert A. DeLong, Jr. 91, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 27, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Sat., Oct. 31 at South Crysler Community of Christ, 3100 South Crysler Ave., Independence, MO 64055; interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the South Crysler Community of Christ Building Fund at the above address. Bert was born June 5, 1924 in Andover, MO and graduated from Eagleville High School. He was an executive pilot for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for twenty-six years before retiring in 1986. He was an Elder at the church where he also served at church Historian and Recorder. He was a Boy Scouts leader with Troop #278 who was also an honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in Osceola, MO. Bert was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie L. DeLong. He is survived by daughter Cindy DeLong; son Dennis DeLong and wife Felicidad; Alan DeLong, all of Independence, MO; sisters Rose Ellen Stine, Independence, MO; Joann White and husband Chuck, Iowa City, IA; brothers John DeLong and wife Moyne, Independence, MO; Jerry DeLong and wife Gail, Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Todd Schumaker and wife Janie, Kansas City, KS; DeeDee Ruths and husband Tom, Liberty, IL; Jacob DeLong; Joshua DeLong; Katie DeLong, all of Independence, MO; great-grandchildren Max Schumaker, Lawren Ruths and Delaynie Ruths.
