Dennis Roy Chambers

March 24, 1944 — June 26, 2025

Lee's Summit, Missouri

Dennis Roy Chambers, 81, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Dennis was born on March 24, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late Roy and JoAnn (Piper) Chambers. Dennis grew up in Bonner Springs and later attended Kansas State University, where he met his beloved wife, Lenore (Brim) Chambers. They married on June 10, 1967, and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Their marriage was one of deep devotion, spanning decades of love and family life.

Dennis was a member of the Methodist Church and started his professional career as a physics, biology and chemistry teacher in Alton, Kansas and Sabetha, Kansas. Dennis left teaching to become a chemist for MidAmerica Dairymen, as well as Folgers and Pfizer Corporation. Later in his career, he worked in the physics lab at Longview College and was an adult education instructor. He had a deep intellectual curiosity and was an avid reader who also enjoyed working on cars and building model cars in his spare time.

A passionate supporter of youth athletics, Dennis served as a soccer coach and referee and was instrumental in establishing girls' soccer in the Blue Springs School District. He was also an Eagle Scout and was the pack leader for both of his sons' troops. Dennis was dedicated to his community—serving as the head of the Architectural Review Board for his homeowners’ association and founding the Men’s Breakfast group at The Fountains of Raintree in Lee’s Summit.

Dennis loved his family very much. He went to every event his children participated in and did the same for his grandchildren. As his time on Earth drew to a close, he let everyone know how much he loved them. He was especially protective of his wife and asked everyone he saw to take care of her.

Dennis will be remembered for his generous spirit, curious mind, and the many lives he touched—as a teacher, mentor, coach, neighbor, and friend.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Lenore Chambers, and their children: Corey (Brenda) Chambers, Shelley (Clint) Campbell, and Scott (Megan) Chambers. He was a proud grandfather to Brianna (Kevin Carr), Ashley, Alana, Kaylynn, Gracie, Aubree, and Ashlyn. He is also survived by his sisters, Gayla Drollinger and Nedra (Carla) Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and JoAnn Chambers.
