October 16, 1926 — October 22, 2008

Sarah C. Desmond, 82, of Lee’s Summit, MO, went home to her final resting place in Heaven on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Truman Medical Center Lakewood. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. There will be a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lee’s Summit Social Services. Sarah was born October 16, 1926 in Geary, IN to William and Georgia (Graham) Daniel and was a devout catholic till her last breath. She brought four amazing children into this world that she raised with strong values and always gave the best of herself to them. Sarah was an avid sports fan who enjoyed listening to Royals games on the radio. She was an active member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church. She also enjoyed listening to music especially Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. If she wasn’t with her family she was talking proudly of them and showing off pictures of them. She had worked for the Corps of Engineers and Social Security after she retired had volunteered with the Lee’s Summit Social Services for several years. She is survived by; her children, Marge Barker of Portland, ME, Sarah Ray and husband Michael of Santa Cruz, CA, Robert Desmond and wife Kim of Lee’s Summit, MO and James Desmond and wife Barbara of Sedalia, MO; 11 grandchildren, Leslie Chubick, Jeannette DiCenzo, Tina Ranney, Robert Desmond III, Candice Ives, Sandy Bartu, Erin Helland, Daniel Desmond, Michael Desmond, David Desmond and Stephen Desmond and 10 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Truman Medical Center Long Term Care Facility 3 south for all their support and compassion during this time of Sarah’s life. She was preceded in death by her 3 sisters, Marjorie, Sister Victoria, and Marilyn and a brother, William Daniel.
