Minnie Detel

Minnie Detel, 82, of Sugar Creek, MO peacefully passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at her home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 in the chapel. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Minnie was born December 28, 1928 in Elk City, OK to Melvin and Eunice (Kazy) Gilmore. Her children and family were the light of her life. Mrs. Detel was a wonderful cook and was always collecting recipes as well as sharing hers with others. Minnie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Detel; daughters Sherry Lawson and husband Larry, Jeanie Ryan and husband Jim, Mary Chapman; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Robert Jr.; two brothers and four sisters.
