Robert Detel, Sr., Independence, MO passed away Monday, November 25, 2013.
Robert was born July 2, 1924 in Independence, MO the son of George and Mary (Malarich) Detel. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps. Veteran, serving in WWII. Robert retired from Menorah Medical Center in 1991 as a Bio-Medical Technician. He attended Maywood Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed bowling, and gardening.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherry A. Lawson and husband Larry, Dorothy Jean Ryan and husband Jim, and Mary L. Chapman; grandchildren, Lynn Gaudet, Mike Detel, Scott Detel, Kim Detel, Brian Detel, Joanie Devall, Joe Ryan, Jennifer Ryan, Debbie Blankinship, Michelle Langton and Brian Collins; 28 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Detel. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Detel in 2011; son, Robert Detel, Jr., in 2005; one sister; and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
