Edmund H. Didde 94, Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2012 surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 pm, Wed., May 9 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 N.W. Hwy. 9, K.C., MO 64152. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm before Mass. Committal services will be at 10 am, Thursday, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Nortonville, KS. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Assoc., 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
Ed was born Nov. 9, 1917 in Nortonville, KS. There he met and married the love of his life, Ione Schuler. After moving to Kansas City, he began a forty-one year career at Columbian Steel Tank Company. Ed and Ione raised five children and enjoyed many happy years in their family home which he designed and built.
Ed was loved by everyone who knew him and was always kind and ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His family was the most important thing to him and he enjoyed fishing, golfing and relaxing at the Lake of the Ozarks with this children and grandchildren.
Ed and Ione were deeply committed to their faith and were former members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his bride of sixty-six years, Ione; sons Thomas Edward and Lawrence Joseph; and six siblings. He is survived by his daughters Jane Baar and husband Daniel, Kansas City, MO; Suzanne Herzig and husband Rich, Fort Smith, AR; Annette Kirby and husband John, Kansas City, MO; brother Carl Didde, Leawood, KS; sister Doris Foster, Hoyt, KS; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren with a twelfth on the way.
