Marilyn Dieckman

September 14, 1945 — April 15, 2015

Marilyn Irene Dieckman, 69, passed away on April 15, 2015, at Vitas Hospice in Kansas City, MO. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 1:30pm, at the Cotillion, 16816 E. 40 Highway, Independence, MO 64055. Family will receive guests from 1:00pm until service time, and also after the service until 3:30pm.

Marilyn was born on September 14, 1945, in Independence, MO, to Herman Edward and Alberta Josephine (Ahring) Dieckman, one of five daughters. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1963. In 1966, she married Lennie Newkirk and had three daughters. Her family remembers her as the life of the party, generous, supportive, and hard-working.

She was preceded in death by her two daughters: Lisa Marie Staggs (January 1, 1997) and Valerie Lynn Newkirk (August 12, 1980). She is survived by her daughter, Amy Park (and her husband, Scott); Marilyn’s former husband and Amy’s father, Lennie Newkirk; grandson, Christopher Staggs; granddaughter, Ashley Staggs; three great-grandchildren; four sisters: Carolyn Dieckman, Barbara Sloop, Donna Rains, and Kathy Bloom; former husbands, Delbert Lewis, Denny Roby, and Mark Stanton; and many, many other family members and friends.

Marilyn left her mark on the world with her great disposition, smiling face, and steadfast positivity, and will be dearly missed.
