Diane P. Doctor, 66, of Blue Springs, MO, who gave so much love to her family and friends, passed from this life on February 14, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. Diane was born in Mason City, IA on December 17, 1943, the only child of Pearl and Orval Vollmer. Early years were spent in Prairie Village, KS before moving to Independence, MO. Diane married her 1961 William Chrisman classmate, Lynn Doctor, on June 24, 1967. Diane attended a year at William Jewell before working as a dental assistant. She loved making different crafts during the years. Diane shared her talents while being an active community leader in her local PTA and Blue Springs Art Council. Diane and Lynn were blessed with two sons, Mark and wife Tonya of Lee’s Summit, MO, Brandon and wife Jenny of Grain Valley, MO; four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Landon, Karsyn and Avery; her mother, Pearl Vollmer; mother-in-law, Juanita Wallden of Parker, CO; brother-in-law Stanley Wallden and wife Cathy, and their son Ryan also of Parker, CO; cousins and many family friends will also miss Diane. She was preceded in death by her father, Orval Vollmer; and her father-in-law, William Howard Doctor. Diane spent many years at home raising her children. She was very involved with her sons’ activities. Diane retired from teaching at Duncan Road Baptist Preschool after 15 years. Diane was a member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church, Independence, MO. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at the chapel with burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
