Bessie Irene Dolan, 90 of Smithville, MO, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Smithville, MO. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Than family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Bessie was born May 27, 1918 in Pawnee Rock, KS to Loren L. and Louisa Pearl (Hawk) Dorland. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed fishing, traveling to spend time with relatives and family. During WWII she supported the war effort by working at Lake City Ammunition Plant and later worked in the factory for Rival Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Blue Springs Free Will Baptist Church. She was married to Donald Dolan; he preceded her in death in 1984. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Joann Michael and Pam Homan and her husband John all of Smithville, MO; 2 sons, Lester Burres and his wife Wilma of El Dorado Springs, MO and Don Dolan of Raytown, MO; a sister Anna Zimmerman of Nickerson, MO; a brother, Don Dorland of Craig, CO; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Chester Charles Burres. 6 brothers, a grandson and great granddaughter.
