Obituary

Don passed away on April 9, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, an adored grandfather, and a loyal friend. To know Don was to know kindness, humor, and a man who showed up fully for the people he loved.

Don was born on the Fourth of July on a military base in Georgia, a beginning as bold and unforgettable as the life he would go on to live. He came into this world with a bang, and in so many ways, he left the same way, making an impact that will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tana; daughters, Amanda, Lacey, Kayla Lynn, Alexis, Sarah, and Kayla Marie, along with their spouses; his sons, Alexander, Jacob, and Nicholas, along with their spouses; and his 22 beloved grandchildren who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, John Paul, Michelle, and Theodore Joseph, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise.

Don dedicated much of his life to his work and service through UAW Local 249, where he served in several roles, including alternate committeeman, committeeman, bargainer, and EAP Representative. He was deeply committed to helping others and advocating for those around him. Whether at work or in his personal life, Don was the kind of man who would drop everything for anyone in need. He would give the shirt off his back without hesitation, never judging, always showing up, and always willing to lend a hand. He really was THAT guy.

In his younger years, Don had a deep love for roller skating, spending countless hours at the rink. It was a big part of his life and something that brought him a lot of joy and connection. Don built genuine friendships with people from all walks of life. He was welcomed and respected across communities, a reflection of his open heart, authenticity, and the way he treated everyone with kindness and respect.

Outside of work, Don found happiness in the simple and meaningful moments. He had a love for motorcycles, took pride in keeping a great lawn, and cherished time spent at the lake. His home was a gathering place, and he loved having family and friends over to his bar, creating memories, laughter, and connection, even though he didn’t drink himself.

One of the most special ways Don gave back was by volunteering his time dressing up as Santa Claus, bringing joy and comfort to individuals with disabilities. It was something he truly loved, and it reflected the heart he had for others.

Don will be remembered as the best husband, dad, grandfather, and friend, a man whose presence made people feel cared for, welcomed, and loved. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
