Donald Andrew Donaldson

December 12, 1948 — December 13, 2022

Donald Andrew Donaldson, just one day after his 74th birthday was welcomed by his Heavenly Father into Heaven.
Don was born on December 12, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Charles "Bud" and Shirley Donaldson. Don's family moved to Independence, MO in 1955 where he lived until his death. He attended Ott Elementary, William Chrisman Jr. High, and was a 1967 graduate of William Chrisman High School.
Don loved sports. He played basketball, baseball, and football.
On October 23, 1981 Don married the love of his life, his soulmate, and best friend Joyce Ann Hanks. Anyone who knew them knew that Don loved and adored "Joycie" ,more than life. They had two sons; Matt and Nate. Don loved his family well and was a strong foundation for even his extended family. His pride and joy was truly his family. He spent countless hours watching his son Nate play sports. Sports was one of his love languages. Cheering on his grandchildren was another huge passion of Dons. Don was an incredible Poppy to his precious grandchildren Kelsie, Camden, and Kayci. They were shown unconditional love and were treasured by him.
Don's family loved his ability to crack a joke at the drop of a hat. He had a knack of teasing with a large dash of sarcasm.
Don accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a faithful servant. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church. Don lived out his faith until the very end.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Bud and Shirley Donaldson. He is survived by his wife Joyce Donaldson, two sons; Matthew and Nathan (Rachel) Donaldson (Raymore, MO), grandchildren; Kelsie, Camden, and Kayci Donaldson, his brother Chuck (Toni) Donaldson, two sisters; Marsha Donaldson and Kathy (Terry) Logan, as well as many adoring nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Celebration of Life to honor Don will be Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 am at the Abundant Life Blue Springs Campus.
