Shirley Jean Donaldson, 81, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 8, 2011. Memorial services will be at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at Eastside Baptist Church, 19901 E. 78 Hwy (23rd St.), Independence, MO; cremation. Visitation will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Pkwy. Ste. 300, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Shirley was born Dec. 10, 1929 in Linn County, MO. She graduated from Brookfield High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for forty-nine years and had sung in the choir and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed cooking and watching her sons play sports but especially loved her grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Bud” Donaldson in 1983, two brothers and her sister. She is survived by son Don Donaldson and wife Joyce; daughter Marsha Donaldson; son Chuck Donaldson and wife Toni; daughter Kathy Logan and husband Terry, all of Independence, MO; sister Joan Murphy, Coeur d’Alene, ID; grandchildren Matthew Donaldson, Nate Donaldson, Ross Donaldson, Lacy Stroessner, Rachel Logan, Melissa Lehman, Melanie Logan and five great-grandchildren.
