Donna Faye Axsom passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 91. Donna was born on December 20, 1934, in Braymer, Missouri to Milton and Alta (Hall) Clevenger. Her life was marked by unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
Donna graduated from Braymer High School before embarking on a fulfilling career as a customer service representative with K.P.L. gas company, where she proudly served for 28 years before her retirement in 1992. Her sharp mind and kind heart made her a treasured colleague and friend.
Donna’s personality was a unique blend of sassy humor and kindness, making her an unforgettable presence. Those fortunate enough to know her remember her not only for her quick wit and organizational skills but also for her generous heart and welcoming spirit.
Family was the center of Donna’s world and she cherished every occasion spent with them, often hosting family meals that brought everyone together. Her famous brisket, mac and cheese, and cornbake were her go-to dishes that family and friends looked forward to sharing. Fond memories were made by all while being gathered around her table.
Donna found joy and freedom in riding motorcycles with her husband, Dean, and together they traveled extensively, often visiting Arizona. They loved traveling with friends and family and spent a great deal of time visiting other family members on their travels.
Donna’s life was one of vibrant spirit, devotion, and enduring love. Her memory will remain a guiding light for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Marshall “Dean” Axsom; daughter, Sherry Cook (Bill); sons, Terry Axsom and Ricky Axsom; grandchildren, Amy Cook (Mark), Laura Hoffmann (Jason), Matthew Moon, Lanny Moon Jr. and Dawna Parker (Austin); great-grandchildren, Allison Haider (Cole), Jacob Cook, Jonathan Hoffmann, Grant Cook and Katie Hoffmann; 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Peggy Siebert.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Alta Clevenger; son, Lanny Moon; grandson, Mark Cook; and siblings, M. Norman Clevenger and Shirley Pollard.
A visitation to honor Donna will be held on May 5, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Her funeral service will begin at 10:00am with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
