Donna Nelle Kish, a beloved mother and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Lee's Summit, Missouri, surrounded by love, she was on October 10, 1936, In Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Donna was raised in Independence, Missouri where her life journey began in a vibrant community where she would later leave a meaningful mark.

After graduating from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1954, Donna's professional life took shape when she began working as a secretary for the City of Independence. With dedication and grace, she served in this role until her retirement in 1980, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

Donna was known for her keen sense of cleanliness, a trait that defined her character. She found joy in tidiness, creating spaces that radiated warmth and comfort. But her interests extended far beyond keeping a clean home. An avid traveler, Donna was an esteemed member of the “NATS” Naval Air Transport Association, embarking on adventures across the globe with her group. Her love for life was further expressed through ballroom and line dancing, often filling the dance floor with her elegance and enthusiasm. Donna also enjoyed shopping, relished the sounds of big band music, and embraced camping, always eager to share these moments with family and friends.

She is deeply missed by her two loving daughters, Jane Gartman and Jill Massey, who carry forward her spirit and values, each of whom will hold onto the beautiful memories created together. Donna is also survived by step children, Vickie Smith and Frank Kish, and 1 step granddaughter Lauren Kish.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Victor Kish, and her dear parents, Woody Smith and Edna "Mable" Fitzgerald, and her son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Massey.

As we remember Donna Nelle Kish, we celebrate a life devoted to family, friendship, and the joys of living. Her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts, a testament to the love she shared and the light she brought into the world.

A private burial will take place.
