Dorothy Ann Hansen, 78, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 22, 1946, in Lyons, Georgia, to Walter Clinton Wiggins and Rosalie Anna (Campbell) Wiggins, Dorothy lived a life marked by faith, family, and kindness.
Dorothy graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1964 and went on to earn her associate’s degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College. She dedicated her professional life to the insurance industry, working as an Insurance Agent for Charles D. Williams and Co., where she was known for her honesty, warmth, and commitment to helping others.
She is survived by her children: son Robert Patrick Hansen of Springfield, MO, and daughter Michelle Ann, married to Robert Dean Lukenbill III of Independence, MO. She was a proud grandmother to Robert Dean Lukenbill IV and Abigail Ann Lukenbill. She is also survived by her brother Roy Douglas Wiggins and his wife Janice of Grandview, MO.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rosalie, her brother Walter Clenton Wiggins Jr., and her grandson, Anthony Clinton Lukenbill.
Dorothy loved her family deeply and never missed a chance to tell stories about her loved ones, going as far back as she could remember. She enjoyed knitting, reading, watching figure skating, and football. She also had a fondness for butterflies and cats, which always brought a smile to her face.
Dorothy considered herself a stubborn Georgia Mule — proud, determined, and full of heart. She was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan and rooted just as passionately for the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. Come football season, you could count on her to be watching the game, cheering from her living room like she was right there in the stands. She was often found watching Fox News and discussing politics with her grandson or anyone who would carry a conversation with her.
Dorothy's faith was a guiding light in her life. She found great joy in Bible study and attending church, and her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her and those around her.
