Dorothy J. Kirk, 92, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Dorothy was born on February 13, 1931, in Oregon, MO to John and Bertha (Woodward) Burger. She married Ben E. Kirk, Jr., on August 16, 1952. Dorothy lived in Independence, MO, most of her married life and was employed by the Mo. Dept. of Revenue, until her retirement in 1998. She was very strong in her Christian faith and is happy to be home with Jesus. Dorothy was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very kind, positive person who was an absolute joy to be around and will be greatly missed by all who love her.

Dorothy is survived by her son Greg Kirk and his wife Jima, of Cleburne, Texas, and daughter Lisa Shockley, of Des Moines, Iowa. Grandchildren Matthew, Jonathan, Laura, Ryan, and Kaleigh. Great grandchildren Owen, Madelyn, Dominic, Cason, Emmaleigh, and Jaxon. Sister Judy Sommer and her husband Larry, of Dodge City, Kansas, as well as longtime best friend Bonnie Hopwood. She is preceded in death by her parents and other siblings.

A graveside service will be held on October 28, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, MO.
